Tâches et Responsabilités

Eclosia Corporate Services is seeking a Legal and Compliance Officer to join its Legal Department and provide legal advice and compliance support to companies across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, practical and well-researched legal advice, identifying risks and recommending solutions that safeguard the interests of Group companies.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts and other legal documents relating to the activities of Group companies.
  • Support business teams in implementing agreements and understanding and fulfilling their contractual obligations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, including through the Government Gazette and other official publications, and advise on their implications and any necessary actions.
  • Assist with employment-related queries and disciplinary proceedings, including reviewing relevant documents and preparing correspondence.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring compliance policies and procedures, coordinating compliance checks and following up on corrective actions.
  • Work with relevant teams to monitor the validity and timely renewal of permits, licences, registrations and authorisations.
  • Assist in managing disputes and litigation, including gathering evidence, preparing case summaries, monitoring deadlines and liaising with external counsel. Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on new and ongoing matters.
  • Support Group companies in addressing data protection matters and implementing related compliance measures.
  • Prepare guidance materials and deliver awareness sessions on legal and compliance topics relevant to the Group’s activities.

Profile

Technical Skills

  • Sound knowledge of Mauritian law, particularly corporate, commercial and employment law, and a good understanding of regulatory compliance.
  • Strong legal research, drafting and contract review skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex legal issues and translate them into clear, practical advice.
  • Effective negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Experience in handling or coordinating litigation and dispute resolution matters.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with an interest in using digital tools to improve efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A qualified law practitioner with a recognised degree in law and preferably at least three years of relevant experience in legal practice or an in-house legal role.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and disciplinary proceedings would be an advantage.
