Duties and Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, preparing budgets and forecasts, managing audits, and contributing to strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Monitor financial performance by measuring and analysing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide financial forecasts.
  • Collaborate with department heads to review and monitor budget performance.
  • Provide analysis on costs, margins, and profitability.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
  • Manage banking relationships and optimize investment of surplus funds.
  • Monitor and manage debt levels and covenant compliance.

Internal Controls & Audit

  • Develop and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit processes.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring high performance and continuous development.
  • Implement best practices in financial operations and systems.

Strategic Input

  • Support senior management with financial insight and recommendations.
  • Contribute to business strategy, risk management, and decision-making processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field (mandatory).
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent qualification (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in financial management or controlling roles.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards (IFRS or GAAP), and taxation.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
