Duties and Responsibilities

The Quality & Food Safety Manager supports the effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s Management Systems and legal compliance frameworks pertaining to food safety. The role ensures that all products sold are high quality products and are safe for consumption, that food safety practices are embedded in operations, and that staff are trained accordingly. Acting as a central point of coordination, the position facilitates cross-functional improvement initiatives and promotes a culture of food safety and quality throughout the organization.

 

  • Conduct inspections at restaurant level at define frequency and support problem resolution.
  • Maintain a Quality Management System to ensure conformity to international standard ISO 9001.
  • Implement and maintain any other Management System decided by the MD.
  • Follow up on corrective actions following non-conformities, perform root cause analysis, non-conformity resolution and proper recording to ensure traceability.
  • Support traceability, food safety and quality audits and prepare Management response.
  • Ensure callback and customer recovery following food safety complaints.
  • Perform root cause analysis of food safety complaints and resolution.
  • Plan routine tests and organize sampling of food items, water and ice in restaurants.
  • Follow-up of certificate of analysis with external laboratory, and verification of results; follow up on non-conformities for resolution.
  • Conduct ATP Swabbing in stores to check hygiene level and coach Team Members.
  • Plan and coordinate Management Reviews.
  • Update improvement plans for all processes following management reviews and audits and verify follow-up done by process owners. (Percentage of completion every quarter).
  • Implement and update Food Safety and Allergens training on the Vault.
  • Update and conduct Food Safety Training for all restaurant employees (classroom).
  • Inform Head of Operational Excellence on identified potential food safety hazards.
  • Represent Management in court for Court cases related to Food Regulations, Food Act.

 

 

Profile

  • A BSc degree in Food Science completed with an MSc degree in TQM or Food Safety or an equivalent degree in the related scientific field related to the job.
  • At least 5 years’ work experience in the food industry at a similar level.
  • Prior experience in the QSR industry will be advantageous.
  • Must possess a valid car driving license.
  • Cutting- edge analytical skills are required to anticipate and identify potential challenges and recommend course of action to resolve problems.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and strong reasoning skill, to take considered decisions and to communicate them effectively.
  • Deep understanding of Quality and Food Safety Management Systems, and local food regulations.
  • Strong communicator who can influence and coach restaurant teams to build a quality and food safety culture.
  • Ability to align store-level practices with corporate and franchise standards.
  • Proven skills in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Competence in managing food safety incidents, audits, or supplier recalls, with agility and transparency in a multi-site environment.
