The wise apprentices of FTL

Since June 1st, FTL has been training five young people from modest backgrounds who have completed their HSC. Some already have qualifications but, due to unfavorable circumstances, have been unable to secure the job they hoped for. This training program could lead to employment—provided they demonstrate commitment.
The goal of the "FTL Krwar Dan Twa" project, initiated by FTL’s CSR team, is to help unemployed young people gain training in the logistics sector, increasing their chances of finding a job. It is a real opportunity for these young individuals, whose employment prospects are often limited. This social project is funded by FTL under the Youth Employment Programme (YEP) and the Eclosia Solidarity Foundation, which annually sponsors CSR projects led by the Group’s companies.
A well-structured program has been designed for them. During the first six months, the trainees rotate through various FTL departments, including administration, HR, secretarial services, accounting, customs, maritime operations, warehousing, customer care, marketing, and sales. For the remainder of the year, they will specialize in the department of their choice. In parallel, they receive Life Skills Management training, led by an Eclosia mentor, to help them integrate into the professional world.
Meet the Trainees
Melanie Rangasamy:
"After studying Port & Terminal Management, I couldn’t find a job because I lacked experience. So, I worked as a sales assistant in a store and later in my family business. At FTL, I feel like a fish in water! I can’t wait to intern in the Maritime Operations department because I love being on the field—that’s where I want to work in the future."
Darel Basset:
"I know I’m in good hands at all times! From day one, I’ve been well-supported, starting my internship in the HR department. I learn new things every day, and so far, I love what I’m discovering. Next step: the Customs department."
Daryl Tolbize:
"There’s a lot to learn, but step by step, and with good mentors, I’m getting there! I hit the ground running at FTL’s Import/Export department in Plaine Magnien. After this, I will move to Maritime Operations."
Jonathan Noël:
"My first few days at W9, FTL’s warehouse, were eye-opening. The team was always on alert—one moment, they were driving a forklift, the next, filling out a report. I’m staying focused and working hard to get good evaluations. Who knows? Maybe I’ll be hired in the future!"
Coralie Descubes:
"I had no idea that preparing quotes was so complex! But it’s essential to understand them well to do them properly. That’s one of the things I’ve learned in the Sales department. It’s also reassuring to have a ‘Buddy’ guiding and supporting me throughout this internship."
