Peace, Justice, Liberty: Eclosia celebrates Mauritius’ independence
At exactly noon, the national anthem echoes across the lawn of Eclosia’s Head Office. Employees have gathered, their eyes fixed on the quadricolor flag as it rises. On this March 12th, Mauritius celebrates its 58th year of Independence, and within the Eclosia group, the moment is shared with pride.
As every year, the group’s companies organize their flag-raising ceremonies. At the group’s headquarters, this symbolic gesture is entrusted to the longest-serving employee and the newest recruit. Together, they raise the flag to the rhythm of the national anthem, under the watchful eyes of around a hundred colleagues.
This year’s theme - “Peace, Justice, Liberty,” three words taken from the national anthem - resonates strongly in a global context marked by tensions. In his speech, the group’s CEO, Cédric de Spéville, invites everyone to reflect on the significance of these values. “Independence Day is a great opportunity for us to take a step back. To remember where we come from and to reflect on what we want to build for our country,” he reminds.
He also emphasizes that these words are not merely symbolic. “Peace, justice, and liberty are demanding words that remind us of our responsibilities,” he says, encouraging everyone to bring them to life in their daily actions.
After the ceremony, it’s time for a convivial moment. Employees gather under the Bedouin tent to share a typically Mauritian lunch: ti puris, curries, gato piments, samoussas… and for dessert, a Vona Corona ice cream.
A simple and warm moment, celebrating both the country’s history and the joy of coming together as colleagues.
